There are times we have recommended a project be shut down as there were no feasible, cost-effective ways to complete it. Planning for a shut down can be more complex that planning the project itself. It requires careful consideration for the impact it will have on all stake-holders, share-holders, C suite, staff, suppliers and customers. There may be considerable cost & risk in shutting down a project, but it may provide a better outcome than letting the project continue.
